Peri Goodman

Music Teacher

I received my BME from Emporia State University, a Masters in Creative Arts from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA and certificate of Administration from Pittsburg State University.

It is from the young musicians I work with everyday, however, that I have learned the most.

As a member of The Voice Care Network, I hold teaching the delicate child voice a precious honor.  My training with John Feierabend, World Music Drumming Level I, Will Schmid Guitar Certification, Yamaha Music In Education Certification and the many Orff workshops attended reminds me learning music should be fun, organic, creative and owned by the learner.

My passion for sharing the gift of music has continued to grow over my career of 31 years in the elementary music room.  I am a proud employee of the Blue Valley
School District of 29 years.

I have twice been named the Teacher of the Year for our building, a recipient of the Sunflower Award and the Vocal Music Teacher of the Year for the KMEA Northeast region of our state.

When I'm not learning about or making music, I love spending time with my best friend, Hank Goodman, and our family and friends.  Riding my bike, creating nearly anything, reading nonfiction, writing and counting blessings fill my days.
